Hurlothrumbic Generator
a device which produces energy waves that cause the human brain to react with varying levels of fear, depending on the strength of the waves. It was designed and developed by Doctor Lorenz Hurlorthrumb, some time after the Battle of Yavin. Moff Bandor helped finance the development, and experimented with the use of the device during the Galactic Civil War on the planet Questal. Bandor modified the generator, adding specific "doomsday programming" to set off ever-increasingly intense waves of fear. Once activated, the generator will eventually develop such powerful waves that it would drive every inhabitant of the planet Questal mad with fear. He was apprehended by a squad of Alliance agents before he could put it to wide-scale use.
