based on the derogatory term for a primitive species, this trap was designed to capture unsuspecting beings. The idea behind a greenie-trap was to lure the victim into a specific position, which was often atop a trapdoor or directly below a stun net. At the push of a button, the trap could be sprung, capturing the victim before they could escape.
