Spider-Man has broken its own single day record with an estimated haul of $45.1m on Saturday (and a revised Friday projection). Box Office Mojo reports:
Spider-Man grossed a whopping $40.5 million on Friday, according to estimates. That's by far the biggest day ever in Hollywood history, shattering Harry Potter's $32.3 million opening day record and Potter's $33.5 million single day record. Then on Saturday, Spidey snared an estimated $45.1 million, surpassing the single day record it had just set.
Early studio estimates have Spidey's opening weekend coming in at $114 million, making it the first movie ever to top the century mark in a single weekend.
Spider-Man has thrown down the gauntlet, and all eyes will be on AOTC box office estimates for May 16th. Thanks to Liam for the alert.
