Just came home from a screening of AOTC. Man, this movie is awesome. It just feels alot more alive then Episode 1. More dark and gritty visuals, more intense action and more character interaction. Since you'll read plenty of other reviews and most of you already know the plot i'll skip all that. Instead i'll concentrate on more specific parts.
Jedi arena Fight:
Great, just excellent. I was a bit afraid it would be short, but Ben Burtt gives us just eneugh. The entrance of Mace is cool. You will get the shivers when the jedi's start to ignite the sabers and charges the incoming droids. In one shot its pure braveheart, jedi's on one side, droids on the other. The C3P0 thing gets a bit annoying, but there is plenty to look at in the background, so do not worry.
Love Story:
It works...kinda. The problem is Anakin whines just a bit to much. He actually seems a bit annoying in the scene where Amidala packs her things. It could have been worse though, a bit superficial but it doesn't seem disjointed.
Dooku fight:
Cool Cool Cool Cool!!! Anakins saber style is unique, he has alot more swing then Kenobi and Qui-Gon and Dooku is just evil. And when yoda enters....it's not a lie what you've read, you will start to giggle, it's just so cool.
Clones vs. Droids:
Again awesome, really feels like a battle, it actually has a bit of saving private ryan camera in it. Nothing to worry about for you purists, but it does make it feel alot more intense. The cool thing is that the clones aren't invinsible, they take losses too, but wins because of overwhelming numbers. The surviving jedi are assigned battalions of troops to command when the big battle begins. You actually get to see them charge in front of them into the fray, very cool detail. Perhaps the jedi's were generals and commanders during the clone wars and that's why Kenobi has the rank of general.
Fuuufuu sent this in about the KTLA - Sam Rubins review of AOTC:
He said the dialogue plunks along. These are his words. It is slow and it doesn't get exciting until the last half hour. He says that there is NO CHEMISTRY between Natalie and Hayden. He described Hayden as someone who is just learning his craft and Natalie was the more experienced. He hated that fact that Jar Jar was back. He has not posted the review to his web site yet.
