Mini_Yoda points out Yahoo Japan with some Episode II information on the premiere of the film there:

Hi just thought I'd let you in on some stuff going on in Japan. I guess Hayden was there to do a press conferance on the movie opening in July 13th. Approximately 200 reporters showed up! which Hayden mentioned it was the most cameras he had ever seen. (It is Japan after all)

Plus even better news, as of May 19th they had sold 20,965 advance tickets in the 9 major cities in Japan. This is 3.7 times (!) the amount sold for the Phantom Menace (5,599). Finally during a sneak preview of the movie, the normally reserved Japanese cheered during the Yoda scene.
