Empire Online continues its AOTC interviews with Set Decorator Peter Walpole. Here's an excerpt:
You mentioned the word bluescreen. For Episode I, the sets were built halfway up and then ILM filled them in. Was that approach used for this one?
What you get is an image which comes through from the Ranch of an interior set. Gavin then, in discussion with Doug Chiang, will develop it. We did a street on one of the stages, I think it went about 25 foot high, or whatever, but the bottom half of the scale of the street was enormous, so ILM can then extend from Gavin's architectural pieces forever more. But a lot of them, like Padme's apartment, the ship's hold, the nightclub were proper set pieces.
