Dialogue Variations on Different Prints

Posted By Joshua on May 20, 2002

son_of_the_tear sends us this interesting variation of dialgue between prints:

I saw AOTC today (Friday) at another theater and it was different than the first two times I saw it. I saw all three times in film. the first two times at United Artists Riverview in Philly (Midnight and Thursday). The second time in United Artists 69th Street in Philly (Friday).

The dialogue was different. The first two times I saw it, it had the longer version as in the script.

Today, it was shorter and different.

First two times I saw it:

Anakin: "I have a bad feeling about this"

Obi-wan: "Take the one on the right, ill take the one on the left"

Anakin: "What about pame?"

Obi-wan: "she seems to be on top of things"

The screening I saw today:

Anakin: "I have a bad feeling about this"

Obi-wan: "Just take a deep breath & consentrate"

Anakin: "What about padme?"

Obi-wan: "She seems to be on top of things"

Not my imagination. I was scratching my head on this. My friend who was with me also noticed the difference. I talked to another friend after the film and he said the same thing. And on the JC forums, quite a few members are also saying the same thing. This is clearly not something with digital, as I saw all three screenings on film format.

Interesting!
