Shawn Fitzgerald writes a good, light-hearted piece about what it means to be a Star Wars fan in today's Cape Cod Times. He's also composed this handy lil' guide:
You know you've encountered a "Star Wars" fanatic if ...
1) He hated "The Phantom Menace," but still saw it 10 times in the theater.
2) He defends Jar Jar Binks.
3) He tries to use the Jedi mind trick on you.
4) He answers you as if he's Yoda (Q: Could you pass me the butter? A: Politely, you must ask!)
5) He is dressed up as a Jedi Knight, despite the fact that Halloween is months away and a new "Star Wars" film doesn't open for a couple of years.
6) He fights to the bitter end with an 8-year-old for the last Anakin Skywalker action figure at Toys "R" Us.
7) He says "May the Force Be With You!" when a simple goodbye would do.
8) He has a Yoda figure perched on his shoulder as a source of constant inspiration.
9) He claims that "'Star Wars' fans aren't at all like 'Star Trek' fans. They actually have a life."
10) He ponders such pressing matters as what would win in a fight: the Starship Enterprise or an Imperial Star Destroyer.
