Darth Jurist from the Chicago Force fills us in on their plans for Wednesday night:
Having waited in line for almost 10 days, members of the Chicago Force are looking forward to the midnight opening with ever escalating anticipation and excitement. (And having endured four nights of 40 degree weather, we are also eager to get back to our warm beds!) While we are weary and weather-beaten, we all agree that the trials and tribulations of waiting in line for so long have been well worth it. Chicago Force has been featured in all major Chicago media outlets, helping to raise interest in our group and awareness of our charity partner, the Jane Addams Hull House Association. Numerous Chi-towners have visited us in line to find out about our shirts and our charity drawing, the profits from which benefit Hull House.
In addition to the Chicago Police cruising by saying "The Force Will Be With You" on their megaphones, local radio stations have come down with bags of goodies, and a team from Lego gave away free toys and shirts on Friday afternoon. CF Members have helped out by delivering pizzas, hot chocolate or other necessary supplies. Daily chats with theater managements and the theater?s projectionist have kept us updated on all the comings and goings involving instillation of the new DLP system, upgrades to the sound in theater 1, and of course, ticket sales.
On May 15, Chicago Force members will appear on the WGN morning show as part of a Star Wars Costume show. Later that day, the Lego team will return to McClurg around noon to pass out shirts to the first 75 people in line and to give out prizes. They will return at 6 pm to award a special prize to the lucky individual wearing the ?special shirt?. At 6:30, Chicago Force will host a costume contest, and the best costume will be awarded a pass for two to the ?sneak preview? that will be showing at 7:30 pm that evening.
In addition to the events at McClurg, starting at 7 am on May 15th, Chicago Force will also be present at the AMC South Barrington for their midnight showing. The 501st and Rebel Legion will be out in force at that location, so get your cameras ready!
Both theaters will likely be swamped with press and media of all shapes and sizes. Be sure to stop by either line for a fantastic time with Chicago?s ultimate Star Wars Fans! For more information about our group or events, please check out our Chicago Fanforce forum by clicking here.
