ATOC took a massive AU $11,967,380 according to FINAL figures released by the Australian Film Industry eclipsing LOTR's previous AU $9,749,937 made on the weekend on the 27th - 30th Dec. However LOTR opened on boxing day on the 26th and set the biggest opening ever in Australia of AU $4,115,783 and still holds the crown on the opening day, even though it opened on a public holiday
ATOC took an amazing $26,187 per theatre average, LOTR took $24,015.
