When the new Star Wars movie opens May 16, Yuma's Main Street Cinemas will be one of only about 27 theaters in the country with the technical capability of showing it the way George Lucas meant it to be shown ? with digital projection.
Dennis and Cassandra Metz and the Quechan Indian Tribe, co-owners of the theater at the corner of 1st and Main streets, installed a digital projection system this week that will be used for the first time when "Star Wars: Attack of the Clones" opens.
... Cassandra said it wouldn't surprise her if dedicated Star Wars fans from other parts of Arizona and California drove to Yuma to see the movie once they learn that Yuma has digital projection.
"George Lucas did shoot Star Wars in digital. This is his vision. So I think it would attract dedicated people," she said.
