AOTC Novelization Tops USA Today's Best Sellers List

Leading the list at No. 1 this week is R.A. Salvatore's Star Wars, Episode II: Attack of the Clones, based on the movie out May 16. An additional dozen books are surfacing throughout the longer list.
The Star Wars publishing program is "scaled down somewhat" this time around, says Howard Roffman, president of Lucas Licensing LTD. The reading audience is still strong, but no one wanted to "overproliferate" the market, he says. (Missing, for example, are some novelty categories, such as mini-books.)
The lure of Salvatore's novel: It has a lot of additional material and "fleshes out the scenes and events (in the film) to give you a broader view," Roffman says.
