Marvel Star Wars #76
ARTOO-DETOO TO THE RESCUE
Published: October 1983
Story: JO DUFFY
Art: RON FRENZ and THOMAS PALMER
Summary

Executor visits Gamandar with two Star Destroyer escorts. Vader surveys the subjugation, deeming Gamandar, Telfrey, and Iskalon precursors to ending the Rebellion. All officers are scared and obedient but for Tower, who is arrogantly confident Vanis will be found despite others' doubts. A corporal interrupts the meeting when K-3PX calls Vader, who is furious to learn that Tower may have killed Luke. Luke sadly tends to Iskalon's dead with Leia and Kiro. A chiaki attacks, but they kill it with a stinger, and when other chiaki smell blood and come to eat the dead, Kiro leads the Rebels away, determined to help the injured and dying. Kendle spurs the School to riot against the Rebels, blaming the attack on them. Luke uses the Force to heave wreckage at the mob, then he and his allies run to safety. On Gamandar, loading officers praise R2's work, unaware he is accessing files on his friends. Lando awakens in a cell, recalls K-3PX blasting them into oblivion, and awakens the others, afraid that Mone's water will grow unbreathable. Tower enters, claiming Kendle betrayed them to save Mone and Primor's lives. Chewie charges the door to get at Tower, but is electrically jolted and slated for interrogation. However, K-3PX and troops arrive to arrest Tower for Vader. As they leave, R2 frees the others. Returning to the Falcon , Chewie breaks a trooper's neck and R2 logs fake departure orders in the computer. Vader chastises Tower for his actions and orders his execution, then heads to Pavillion to find Luke. Four TIEs spot the Falcon but let it go, as per orders. Kendle's mob finds Luke and company, who have no choice but to fire. The troops join the mob, even though they bombed Pavillion. One trooper sneaks up on Leia, but Kiro takes a shot meant for her, so Luke grabs his knife and kills the trooper. The Rebels push through the crowd to get Kiro to water, and the Falcon shoots a charging chiaki. It falls on Kendle, killing her, and the mob is leader-less. Mourning his wife's death, Mone assumes the role and bans all air-breathers from Iskalon. EnsViews Comic Review
