INFORMATION:
Most people know of some of the higher priced Star Wars movie posters. You probably know that the Revenge of the Jedi poster is a rare one. You also probably know that original A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back posters command high prices. If you really know your poster history, then you know the "Happy Birthday" Star Wars poster is probably the most expensive and rare of the lot.
But as a poster collector, I came across a poster which I had no idea was rare or valuable. This was a 1977 British Quad movie poster featuring art by the Hildebrandt Brothers. Due to the fact of it's rarity, this is easily in the top 5 most valuable Star Wars movie posters. Definitely a nice piece of art.
Starlog Magazine (1978) talked a little about this artwork. The Hildebrandt quad was used for about a month or two in the UK before
replaced by the style C Chantrell art. SW opened in the UK on Nov 28,
1977, and the Hildebrandt was used until late Jan 1978.
OTHER IMAGES:
Star Wars 15th Anniversary Style A - This SPECIAL "LIMITED EDITION" poster came out in 1992 for the 15TH ANNIVERSARY of "STAR WARS". It is copyrighted in 1992 by LUCASFILM LTD and made by Kilian Enterprises. A limited number of 5000 were printed and each was numbered and this one is also. The artwork on this collectible was done by the Hildebrandt Brothers. This is one sheet size of 27"x41".
Star Wars 15th Anniversary Style A - Both of the anniversary posters were printed simultaneously by Killian Enterprises in different quantities. I believe the "New Hope" version is slightly rarer. The New Hope version was sold predominantly on the Home Shopping Network or something.
