E-MAIL MAY-JULY 1998

Hi Guys,

I just wanted to e-mail you to let you know how much I appreciate what you do.  I loved the site before and hit it every day. Until today I thought you all were just a bunch SW geeks like me,  but I was truly impressed by the extent of your fandom when you opened the "Rebel Friends" site.  I had had the idea before, but didn't think to e-mail you with it.  I just wanted to tell you I got chills.  It was a truly cool thing to do.  I'm married and when I have kids I want them to be able to love SW as much as I do.  I'm glad to see there are others who feel the same.

Thanks,
Neil

Good idea & well done.  I have a 6 yr. old son who loves Star Wars whom I will show the site to tomorrow. (I'll let you know how you rate then!) Most sites out there are geared towards the (grown-up) folks who buy up all the star wars consumer items known to man.  It's refreshing to see a site that my son can enjoy that doesn't focus pimarily on the toys.  Keep the activities & comics coming!
Thank you for the kids starwars website. I am 3 years old and have been
a fan for more than a year. My dad is printing the painting book right

now for me to draw. Thanks again.

Sean Lynch

(as told to his dad, Joe Lynch)

I showed my 6 yr. old the site. Your comic & coloring pages got an official approval of "COOL !"  From him, there is no higher approval. (Just thought you'd like to know.)
My 6 yr old son was excited about this section! His favorite part is the paint book pictures to color. He enjoyed the comic book section, even though he had trouble with the words. (He is just learning to read!) I think this site will be very good for him--simple enough he can move around in it and encourages him to learn to read. It will help him understand the need for school and help him become more computer literate. Thanks a lot.
Hello to everyone at TheForce.net! I would like to give you some serious compliments on your new Rebel Friends section for kids ages 10 and under. My name is Eddie Cobb, and I am a Child Development and Family Resources professional in North Carolina. I visit your page often since you guys always have the best information on the prequels, but my attention was really captured when I saw your new section geared towards a younger audience. Seeing Star Wars is actually one of my earliest childhood memories (and I was three; talk about making a good impression), and it really makes me feel teriffic to know that today's generations of children can also be a part of the same Star Wars experience. I recently showed some pictures of my last Halloween costume (Luke's black uniform in RotJ) to my classroom of 4-year-olds, and some of them actually KNEW what it was. Now, thanks to your Rebel Friends section, more young aspiring net surfers (and future Sith Jedis, heh) will have the opportunity to learn about the greatest story ever told.
The artwork is WONDERFUL, and I particularly enjoyed Darth  Vader's News Flash! This is GREAT stuff, and is quite possibly the best audience-specific idea I have seen on the whole internet. I certainly wish the PC's in my classroom had modems, because I would happily show Rebel Friends to all my boys and girls. I am so glad that you have remembered that the Force exists in people of all ages! Please keep up the inspired work! And remember, "The Force will be with you... always (no matter what age you are!)"
Dear TheForce.net members,

I'd just like to compliment you on your site, it's great and you
did a great job on the kids area. It is something that ages 4-8

would enjoy, keep up the good work!

-Matt

Good work!!!!!!!

MARK

Wow!  You guys have done a great job with this section.  My little five year old sister doesn't mind that I spend so much time on the site getting prequel news now that she has a place to play in.  Only goes to show how Star Wars has something for everyone. - TJ
Hi there. I'm the father of two young boys (ages 5 and 8) who  checks your prequel site daily for new information. First off, I think Rebel Friends is a great idea...so do my two boys. The great thing about Star Wars is  that it's one thing all three of us have in common.  My suggestion for Rebel Friends would be a modified version of  the prequel watch section on your main page. I know my boys are awaiting the new  movie as eagerly as I am. And they're curious as heck about it. I'd keep it  simple and factual. Stick to what is confirmed, as separating rumor from fact is hard enough for us adults,  let alone children. But, especially since one of the principle characters in the  new movie is a 9-year-old boy, I think a section with some general non-spoiler  information would be great for kids.
Some pictures (or illustrations). A brief  description of the plot. Some fun tidbits of info. Maybe some FAQs. I know my  boys would get a kick out of it.  That's my input. Oh...and my boys will be sending a picture of their cat, Anakin, shortly. One more year and we'll no longer get strange looks  when we tell people the name of our cat.   Keep up the good work.
Hi there... Just wanted to drop you a note and tell you that this 25 year old is enjoying the new Rebel Friends section.

I think it is SO cool of you folks to put this together.  There aren't many areas for kids to go on the net in the first place, not to mention good Star Wars kids sites.

You know, when I was a kid, what, three days ago, I used to (trying to put you all off the trail by using past tense) love choose your own  adventures.  It'd be harder to do than a simple story, but much more interesting to kids.  Maybe even a blank they could fill in and have  their name as the hero of the story?!

Dave

This is just fabulous.  Can't wait to show it to the Jedi in training at home.  Have you thought of adding a listing of the kids' novels (Junior Jedi Knights series, Galaxy of Fear) so kids visiting the site can check to see if their collections are up to date, etc.?  I know there is a novels listing in the main area of TheForce.net, but a kids specific listing might be a welcome addition.

Helen

I am real impressed with the new kids section.
Well, the whole Force.net thing is great.  I wanted to make sure that you did not mind me linking to your site.  I have a generic link on my web site now (I am working on the star wars section to get it up) and my son has a page which he wants to link to the Rebel Friends page.  I wanted to see if you have a Rebel Friends banner that he can use.  If not, He can use a normal link or I will make him one if you do not mind.

Keep up the great work.  Thanks again for the kids page.  It is a great idea.  I wish I had thought of it first!

Tommy I am real impressed with the new kids section.

I would suggest that if you are going to make this truly a site for kids, that you would remove sentences like :"Now let's hope that those $#^@%! rebels don't use those LEGO building blocks to make new rebel ships!" Not only will most kids not get the reference, but the ones who are intellegent and old enough to question will have to be told that Darth Vader is swearing; something he is not supposed to do. Perhaps it should be changed to something like "darn" or "dang" or left out all together to be more appropriate for children.

Marc

I have to tell you a couple of things:
1.  My godson is WILD for the Rebel Friends Cartoon.  (He's 6 1/2.)  Thanks so much for putting these pages up.  He's having a blast.

2.  When are you going to put up more coloring pages?  My 3 year old godson loves those the best.  He's asking for Luke, 3PO, Han and R2.

You're doing a great job.  Keep it up!
Paula

update the comics more often! I really want to see what happens in the story!

Sam, age 13

You have a nice web page.Your Star Wars Pets page is neat.

Bye!

Thank you.  My 5 yr old will love it.

Ali

Hi! I really enjoy your site  and my 5 little sisters and brother LOVE the "Newsflash" in Rebel Friends. They also like the comics there, so I hope you add more to that soon.
Hi, My name is Don Mark Baker.  My little brother wanted to tell you that he liked your comic.  His name is Joseph Barnes.  Good job.

-Joseph,

& Don Mark

Love you're idea for Rebel Friends...Like you say, we fell in love with Star Wars when we were 10/12.  Anyway...while recently (AGAIN) looking though my "Art of Star Wars" books I realized there were always KID DRAWINGS.  I do love the pet idea  But I remember drawing pictures of all my favorite characters, and obviously Lucas did too if they were put in those and many other books.

So my suggestion is to have a "KID FAN ART" page. I would love to see what the kids do with their imagination and our favorite characters. (suggested age limit 15...but perhaps have 2 sections, one for younger, one for older)  I do understand how you wouldn't want to use up a whole lot of space, so if this never comes to past thank you for at least reading my suggestion.

P.S.  I also got the idea of Kid Fan Art from also looking at the Great Graphics for the interface as well as the comic book (Great!!).

again, thank you for the time

Thomas J. Bonneville (11D-7)  21 on the outside but still 12 on the inside...

To the Star Wars force net,

My name is Philip and I live at Strathewen on the farm.
At June 1st 1998 it was a day off and I had a chance to go on the Internet with Mrs Teeper. When I wrote the word Star Wars on Yahooligans I found the Force net. When I first saw it, it was good because it's for kids only. I was going to send you a picture of my drawing of Nan's dog but I dont know how to put the picture in the e-mail and send it to you. I went to the comic corner and the drawings look good. How long till the next page comes on? When I read the Vaders News, What day are they going to be for sale the Star Wars lego? I like Star Wars and I collect the figerines. I have two brothers called David and Shaun. They like Star Wars but I like it more. In the painting book would they have a picture of Jabba the Hutt and Darth Vader?

That's all I have to say and May the Force be with you.

From your Rebel friend,
Philip.
