How exactly did you get the role in The Phantom Menace?
I got a call from the stunt the stunt co-ordinator and he asked me to
come in. He asked me to come in the following week and do a test fight to
show George Lucas. I knew at that point they were looking for someone to
play Darth Maul. For four days we rehearsed the fight and on the fifth day
I was put in make-up and the fight was filmed. George Lucas saw the fight
and he really liked it. I got a call from the producer, Rick McCallum a day
later and he told me I got he role of Darth Maul.
When was it decided your voice would be dubbed out?
I knew from the beginning it was not going to be my voice but at the same
time during some point of the filming I though my voice might be used.
What did you think of the reaction to Darth Maul in Episode I?
The reation was mind blowing and very over whelming.
Were you flattered by the desire for many for Maul to return in the prequels
again?
Yes I was very flattered.
Tell TFN readers about your most harrowing moment during photography for
Episode I?
I did not have any harrowing moments the whole experience was great.
Did you enjoy Episode I, and what are you expecting from Clones?
Yes i enjoyed Episode 1, especially the last ten minutes, and i am looking
forward to seeing Attack Of The Clones.
How has the convention circuit served you? Have the fans been nice?
It has been great and very interesting meeting the fans they have all been
very nice. I'm looking forward to meeting them agai soon in Philadelphia and
Texas.
Are you interested in other types of roles, and would you consider acting
outside of the genre?
Yes I am interested in other roles and acting outside the genre, in fact I
have just finished another movie.
What are your current projects? Tell us where Iron Fist stands.
The movie I have just finished is called Ecks Vs Sever with Antonio
Banderas and Lucy Liu. I play a CIA secret agent. This is the first time
people will be able to see me as me, no make-up, and my voice. Iron Fist will hopefully be starting later in the year.
Have you heard what Nick Gillard said at Celebration 2?
Yes, I'm sure he was referring to Darth Maul not me personally, however
if the fan's want to come and see our MFX show they can make there own minds
up who would win any duel, they will be in no doubt by the end of our show.
What is this Movie Fight Xperience we keep hearing about?
The MFX is a calibration of fight sequences that Andreas Petrides (stunt
co-ordinator) and myself have co-ordinated and choreographed for the
show. The fights are from different times of history. The fights reflect all
our experiences in movies.
What are your future goals and plans?
To keep climbing the ladder and become successful in movies and continuing
performing the Movie Fight Experience as much as I can.
We'll be posting a clip of the MFX soon and you can visit his official site right here!
