Casting Call - Gilad Pellaeon

The Winner for Gilad Pellaeon is ...

Sir Derek Jacobi

Gladiator, Hamlet, Dead Again

EXPANDED UNIVERSE FACTS

Here are some Gilad Pellaeon facts taken from the Unofficial Star Wars Encyclopedia:

  • Elderly Imperial Navy Captain, served in the Imperial fleet for over fifty years.
  • Lied about his age years before to get into the Imperial Academy and graduated in the top third of his class.
  • Promoted to the command crew of the Chimaera, after proving himself capable of command, where he began his steady climb to the top.
  • Second-in-command of the Chimeara during some of the peak years of the Empire.
  • Ship was responsible for making slave runs to the Wookie homeworld, which the Empire used as a source of slave labour.
  • Forced to take command when his Captain was killed during the Battle of Endor.
  • When the Death Star and Imperial flagship Executor were destroyed, and the Emperor and Darth Vader were dead, he had no desire to lead the Empire, but felt it was his duty to keep the Imperial fleet together, and ordered a retreat.
  • Had little hope for the Empire's future, as the remaining forces bickered amongst themselves, until a new leader appeared, Thrawn.
  • Grand Admiral Thrawn chose the Chimaera as his flagship, and for the first time in the five years since Endor, Pellaeon once more had hope for the glory of a reborn Empire.
  • Served Thrawn well, respecting the alien's uncanny insights while providing tactical assistance when necessary.
