Michael Kingma Talks Playing Tarfful

Posted By Mike on April 19, 2008

Click here for an article about Michael Kingma who is not only the center for the Yaralla Port City Power basketball team in Austrailia, but is also know as the Wookiee Tarfful from Revenge of the Sith. See the excerpt below:

"Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that I would be in a Star Wars film," he said.

"It was such a mind-blowing experience."

An experience which took Kingma to Star Wars premieres and conventions around the world, at exotic locations such as Japan, France, America, Germany and Holland.

"I once had a signing inside this toy store in France and there were lines outside the shop door," Kingma said.

"For not being a main character in the movie it (the attention) was all pretty crazy."

So crazy was the phenomenon that is Star Wars, that Kingma's character Tarfful even had its own action figure.

"How many people can say they've had their own Wookiee doll," Kingma said with a laugh.

Describing landing a role in the film as "luck", and being "in the right place at the right time", Kingma said he had been really fortunate.

"I was in Sydney at the time they were shooting the films and my agent rang me up saying they were looking for some big guys to play Wookiees, and the rest was history," he said.
