Greg Proops

Greg Proops - Greg Proops is a fairly well known (at least in the U.K.) American comedian. You might remember that Bothan Spy told us he played one of the two pod race announcers, so this confirms that report. You can find pictures of him here and here.

7/12/98 - Mike Carroll sent us the following:

"Tonight I went up to San Francisco to a small comedy club called Cobb's. And who was headlining? Greg Proops. While we were waiting for our meals to arrive, I noticed Greg was standing behind me talking to a guy at the bar. I waited until he was finished with that conversation and approached him to inquire about his role in the prequels. Nothing big, so don't get excited, but HE himself confirmed that he will be the announcer in the pod races and he said it was a lot of fun. He also said that he briefly spoke with Ewan on the day of his filming. That's about all the info I could get from him, but speculation, if ANY, is out of the question. Heard it from a TRUE source. :) Oh yeah...one more thing. Greg Proops is a funny guy."

3/19/98 - LEAVESDEN RESHOOTS & THE POD RACE

Bothan Spy checked in with some info on the reshoots that went on at Leavesden a few weeks ago. You might consider this a mild spoiler, so we'll put it in the invisible font. Highlight to read:

"They were fitting up the American comedian, Greg Proops as an alien. He AND ANOTHER comedian (first-name Scott) will be 2 aliens doing a commentary to the Pod Race! Sounds 'interesting'! They will narrate the whole race as in a traditional motor car race!! I know - you're thinking "COOL!". Greg said that he tried to ad-lib some lines, like "I don't care what universe you're from, THAT'S GOTTA HURT!!", but they wouldn't let him stray from George's script! Probably a good idea. So that'll be interesting."
