Ten years ago this year, the
Star Wars CCG was just laying its legendary foundation with the release of the base set,
Premiere (for Christmas 1995) and then,
A New Hope, six months later. This first expansion brought cards such as
the Death Star and Leia's
Tantive IV as well as the ability to recreate Episode IV's exciting Battle of Yavin through
Attack Run and
Commence Primary Ignition!
For the remainder of the year,
the Star Wars CCG WorldWide Ladder (WWL) online league is going to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the release of
Premiere and
A New Hope expansion. Members looking for an alternative to the standard league games will be able to earn double league points by playing in either
Premiere or
A New Hope format games.
The rules of these two formats are simple: In the Premiere format, players may only use cards from the
Premiere base set, the Jedi Pack, and the
Premiere 2-Player box set. The A New Hope format is basically the Premiere format with the inclusion of all the cards from
A New Hope.
Games played in these formats and scenarios will count as normal towards WWL medals and awards, including specially-made "card t-shirts" avatars.
Star Wars prizes (but not necessarily CCG prizes) will also be part of these special formats: in January one copy of the Episode IV DVD--the original 1977 edition--will be awarded at random to a WWL member who participates at least one of these unique game-styles! The more you play, the better chance you have at winning the DVD!
See
this Announcement for complete details about these two formats.
Being a member of the WWL is 100% free. You don't need to own any of the physical cards or necessarily know how to play. Downloading the software to play the Star Wars CCG online is also 100% free. Holotable is widely used as is CCG Workshop. If you have any problems downloading the software or would like to learn how to play once the software is downloaded, please be sure to post a message in the CCG section of the Jedi Council Forum (link is on this page).
